Techart Steering Wheel Question
I have the XPA leather 3-spoke but I need a smaller wheel. Will the Techart 320mm accept the stock airbag and crest or does it have it's own. All I really want is a smaller wheel, with airbag and crest.
As far as I was told the tech art one, as long as it looks like the three spoke one, but thicker and with different stitching is just a rewrap of the stock wheel, and therefore it accepts the stock bag. Dunno if there are any different ones other than the one I have seen on a 996
Since the steering column has no tilt feature , wouldn't a smaller wheel pretty much block out the voltmeter, speedometer and tachometer sweep, water temp and oil pressure gauges ? All you will see is the fuel gauge , digital speed and odometer area unless you are 5 ft tall !
The larger wheels are built on stock Porsche frames, 3-spoke and 4-spoke, and accept the factory airbag covers. The smaller 320mm wheels are completely different and cannot use the factory airbag covers.

The 320mm unit its the same on the 340 and different than the factory one. I HAVE the TechArt 340mm wheel installed in my 993 cabrio. You can see pics at my Rennlist albums through the link below my signature. I ordered it directly through techArt in Germany with special guards red interior stiching to match my car, carbon top to match the interior, full leather airbag cover with the logo delete option.
I first saw the wheel in 2002 at the Paris Auto show installed on a 996 TT. I asked the polite salesman if I could get in to see it and he let me. The minute i touched this wheel I knew I had to have it. It was small, thick on the sides is such a way that your fingers wrap around the wheel perfectly. The leather quality was amazing, the whole wheel was simply perfect.
So I went out of the car and I asked for more info. He said that the wheel was 340mm installed on the 996 as it fits better. He then showed me the same wheel in 320mm and we both agreed that the 340 seemed to be better proportioned and looking for the car. To my delight he also said that it could be installed on my 993 and needless to say I proceeded shortly after to order a custom version for my car. I opted only for the interior stiching in red and it was a good choise. With the full leather airbag cover you can have the same deviated stiching as well if you choose so. The last option of "logo delete" was because by definition TechArt put their logo on it but I wanted to glue in the Porsche crest I had bought from AJ USA. Note that you can have this option only if you order the full leather airbag cover.
For me this wheel worths every penny I spent! You got to try it to believe it...

BTW why did you order the spacer? You want the wheel closer to you?

These two 340MM 996 TechArt wheels accept unmodified Porsche factory airbags, and are built on Porsche frames and hubs, you need not buy another airbag.
The later 320mm wheels (and the even more recent 340mm variation) use an aftermarket airbag and hub.

The spacer can only help as I already have the stock wheel out as far as it can go. I can always move it back if its too close but I think the 25mm will give me even more legroom.
Price is a killer but £100 of that is spacer and £166 VAT
