I sometimes hear the rattling if the clutch-in technique solved your problem. I think it's the flywheel and very likely not an issue unless it lasts for more than a second.

That's IT! We finally have the Symptom of impending IMS explosion and Doom! Ah-Ha! Just don't let anyone stand beside the car while you start or stop it, just in case the flywheel completely lets loose and goes flying.
You might crawl underneath and take a look at the case. If you see small dents, sort of like rods have been banging on the inside trying to get out, you might have one of the guys at Jiffy Lube take a look at it.

I know it's an old thread but... to reiterate.
I have been told by a P-mechanic that rattle at shutdown can be a sign of a wearing dual mass flywheel. The center rubbermass becomes lose and has some play that makes the noise. It will not cause problems but should be replaced when the clutch is replaced. Might consider a single mass light weight fly wheel when the time comes.
Reported/suggested tire pressure are ALWAYS give for COLD tires. I have been running 36 front 40 rear for 1.5 years and very pleased with ride quality, tire longevity, performance. 44psi can cause excessive harsh ride, road noise, and center tire wear. It is suspected that 44psi was recommended to protect the wheels from the narrow side walls.
For the interior leather I prefer the Lexol products, both the pH cleaner and the nourishment protectant. They are easy to use (spray on) and work well. Another excellent product but is harder to use is Connelly's Hide Food. This product is like a paste. It works VERY well to restore neglected dried out leather for example a convertible that has seen too much sun.

Don't know about the engine rattle but to cure seal squeaking, you may want to try Wurth Rubber care http://www.carcareonline.com/detail....oduct_id=11303 on the seal and Wurth lubricant http://www.carcareonline.com/detail....oduct_id=11302 on all the metal moving parts that you have access to.
The combination cured my sunroof squeak (I know you're talking about the cab roof) that even the dealer couldn't fix using kryptox grease.
Good luck.
