Color combo/ Options
I am ordering a new 996 cab for 2002 and have tried to come up with a unique (somewhat) color combo without going the extra mile and getting a special order color. Anyone have Silver/blue top/ grey interior?
If so please post pictures. I also have settled on 18in wheels, PSM, Technic package. Can't wait to get the car. This will be the 3rd Porsche and I am going through withdrawl!

If you do silver , blue top and grey int, I think metropol blue contrasting carpetand mats would tie the top color in really nicely. ( Personally, metropol blue interior with contrasting grey carpets would look much more unique) . The dark on top, light on bottom interior seems twice as roomy.

My dealer is telling me that color combos have not been offically released by Porsche. Is this accurate? Also, will the June/July production arrive in the US in early Sept.?
Thx

I've been told October delivery on my order. I have also been told that Blue, silver and grey are the only colors available for June/July order.
As far as the aluminum gauge faces, I had that on my last 911 and wanted to try something different... like a blue gauge face. I also have seen plenty of blue interiors, and want the grey. Blue carpet sounds interesting though. Easier to keep clean.

Did you purchase your 2002 996 from Porsche of Arlington? If so, were they willing to come off MSRP (3%-5%)? I've been talking to HBL and I'm not impressed with their level of knowledge or willingness to move from MSRP.
Thx

Yes and Yes. A little less than 3%. Talk to Leon. He is a great guy with a good attitude and has been extremely helpful to me in the past. Their lists seem pretty full but they may move some.
I bought my first 911 from HBL. NEVER AGAIN.
Porsche of Arlington as Heishmans had its flaws but overall much better than HBL in my opinion.
Plus new owners are good people and seem to be improving service.

Here's a pic of AS/GG/MB. More of this and other combos in my searchable gallery.

Movin', I have also heard a lot of bad things about HBL.
Grungyspeed, October delivery seems pretty good. Did you just get on the list or have you been on it for a while? Do you know what "number" you are onthe list? Also, did you negotiate before or after you got on the list? It doesn't seem like you would have much leverage after you get on a list.

I got on the list in February. I have bought 2 other cars and had both of my 993s serviced there.
They gave me a discount when I initially put the order in. However, other negotiations can take place when pricing comes in for 2002 or when the actual car is delivered.
I probably will shoot for 4%. As long as they knock off the $2500 they promised before. I will be happy.
October is what they are telling me. Who knows when actual will be. As long as it is before March, I'll be ok.

Paul, HBL is a dealership in Northern Virginia, near Washington D.C.
Grungyspeed, thanks for the info. Here is a killer site for examples of color combinations. I think it's all (or mostly) Boxter's. But, it will at least give you an idea of what a 996 would look like.
