Post mesh for front spoiler

I'd like to add the mesh inserts for the opening in my front spoiler. I think it will add a more "finished" look to the car, as you can see inside some of those vents and it looks "junky", for lack of a better term.

Has anyone done this here (stock 99 front spoiler on a 99 996 cab) and if so, where did you go for the parts? Was it easy to do? Drilling required, etc etc.

I have one catalog from Automotion (Performance Parts) that shows these for about $189.

thanks

I had a 97 993 targa that we put a Techart knockoff bumper cover on. We used the aluminum mesh we bought at Lowes and mounted the mesh using a caulk-like glue substance (when I say we I mean the bocy shop). I don't remember using any screws or brackets but I may be wrong. I seem to recall it looked ugley from behind but looked great from the outside and I never had any problems with it moving or coming loose. I can check with the body shop if you are interested but I don't think it cost much at all. I thought about having him do the same to the stock 996 cover.

I have a 996 C2 with aerokit.
Bought them from Car graphic

Not an easy install. The plastic has to be cut out of the centre scoop.

ok, thanks. I'll check the "easy" route first. I definitly dont want to butcher the scoop anymore than necessary, and I prefer to keep the front spoiler stock (if only for cost purposes)

I just recently upgraded myfront spoiler to GT-3 look. I was going to purchase the cargrphic kit but I spoke with Danny @ Upon3racing and he told me to go to Home Depot and buy the galvinized mesh they use to lay concrete. Just have your body shop urethane or epooxy it on. You do know that ether way you must remove your bumper(someone correct me if im wrong). Good luck either way, it looks great when its done.

I wish I could find a good pic here at work. I will look at thome this evening and see what I can find.

BTW, the shop used windshield sealer to hold the mesh in place. He said it will hold anything.

The mesh I had looked thicker than the one used in the picture of 01'996C-24ME's.

John H,

I think your spoiler pic looks fantastic.

Not so sure about 01'996C-24ME's mesh.

Kevin - what kind of glue was used - silicon sealer, expoxy cement or something similar? I assume that you had to remove the bumper, right?

David, The brand was Loctite-- Extra Time Epoxy-- Came in a squeeze tube, two sections but when you squeeze it out it combines the two mixtures into one. Clear and it dried fast and hard. Actuall didn't take off the bumper, if you leave the top holes you won't need to take it off cause you can reach in and apply the glue from the those openings. I used one of those flat metal tools that like a spatual (don't know the name of it) Anyway that worked well... the hardest part was cutting the wire, also the sheets were not long enough so had to solder one piece together, but you can't even see it. Also be sure to tape up the painted area before, the mesh will scratch the paint while your attempting to install it.
