How many would track a 360 modena?
Darn if I could afford it but out of curiosity if you had this car 360 modena would you take it out on the track? I know they have ferrari clubs but would you track with other model cars? Regards. Mike

Hi Mike, I'd track a 360 Modena (or other Ferrari) if I owned one, although I probably wouldn't think of it as my 'primary' track car unless I was wealthy enough to afford a 'Challange' car. I don't see too many Ferrari's at 'regular' track days, but then there aren't that many Ferraris, so maybe that makes sense.
I did attend the Ferrari Club day at Laguna Seca and there were a number of 360's, F355's, 550's and Challange cars running. The Ferrari Club was a great group with fairly relaxed rules, like 'point by' passing on all straights, even in the Indermediate group.

Yes.
In fact, I tracked my 328 plenty and for the past several years had 360s flying past me on the straights.
In fact, once I was in a session and an old Ferrari was in front of me. I couldn't see the side much but knew it was a V12 from the looks and they way he pulled in track out and the straights. I identified the model. I couldn't believe my eyes and thought it was a copy. When the track session ended it was the real deal and I was behind a Ferrari 250 GTO. They run around $7 million (USD)!

Darn I need to buy and older Ferrari to attend the Ferrari Clubs so I can drew all day : ). I'm dreaming anyway because wife would say NO!!! I always liked 348/355 and the 360 is definitely growing on me(like now!!). Hey Jim Hodel-how's it going and all? Are you planning to attend any DE's later on. I'm going to Thunderhill again July 27th-hope to see you there or later on. Wished I laid my eys on that GTO you mixed up with-what an amzing site!!! Regards. Mike

I'd love to take my car on the track with a 360. I am sure not saying that I would win, just love to be there same time. Even more fun would be a 308/328/348 same time on the track, That car I would beat.
Anyone driven a 308/328??? Nothing really happens until you get to like 8000 or 8500 RPM's....

Have gone to 5 DE's so far and as of yet zilch on ferrari participants : (. I've seen Vipers/Zo6/Ac Cobras and lotta porsches so I'm hoping someday to see a few on the track even the older ones like the 308/328. Regards. Mike

The 328 has a pretty good torque curve but the money is at 5500 rpm and higher. Totally fun car and sometimes I regret selling it. However, I think I was overdriving and it and needed something to keep up with me. I'm not saying I'm Schumie but I had the car to it's limits and often passed 'better cars' with less demanding drivers. Then again, maybe I'd be less agressive on the track if I was risking a $160k-225k car.

That probably holds true to fact that if I ever could afford a 160-225k I would be going in knowing it's expensive to repair and gotta have money set back just in case because I would really track the hell out of the car. I wouldn't want to put myself in a situation that I could barely afford the car and having to not track it for fear of something's going to happen. Boy Jim- you tasted Ferrari love and I think in the future you'll get another one. If I had tasted a Ferrari I know I couldn't live without one for a long period of time : ). Regards. Mike

You can go to a Ferrari Club track event, they take the p-cars and you'll run with them. I've seen a couple of 360's getting wrecked. Actually I had an F40 fly by my humble 993 if you run intermediate usually in the last run they'd mix it with the red group kind cool.

I went to a lot of FCA events with my Ferrari. The people that tracked their P-cars also had a Ferrari on the track. I don't know if you could only bring a P-car but if you pals with someone it might be allowed. Never hurts to ask or try.
One guy had a 348 challenge and a robins egg blue 993 with god-only-knows-what modifications. The latter was one of the fastest cars at Moroso that day. He flew by me on the straight. I was at around 135 mph and he went past like I was in reverse going downhill! Unreal!

There are (were) a couple of 360s that came out to TWS over the last couple of years. I got a 20 minute ride in one during a red session
My 993 can hit 140 at the end of the front straight, he was winding it up to 160! Music, all music - although after 20 minutes of 7-8,000 rpm, my ears *were* starting to hurt... but totally worth it!
The one I got a ride in is back at the dealership for sale; the owner has a (spyder? berlinetta?) convertible 360 on the way.

Don't think so. If you crash, it's back to the factory and it could take forever to get it fixed. My idea for that has always been to have a 360 for the street and a Cup car for the track. You get the best of both world. I just sold my cup car as I had no time to drive it but when I do regain control of my life (currently its owned by my employer) I will try to have the ideal combo. That said, i would take the 360 at least once on the track but at no more than 90%.
What does Viken do with his babies?

Three Wheelin'
I actually thought about keeping my boxster and buying a 348/355 challenge car for a track car. They are selling in the $45-70 range. Stupid question... why wouldn't you track a car like that if you had one?

<img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> Whatever you choose, do not get a 348 unless it's a '94-95. Even then, do not get a 348 unless you really are infatuated with it. They have tons of gremlins and there is a reason you will see them priced below a 328.
BTW, the 355 in '95 had OBD I and 15 more bhp than the later 355 with OBD II.
