The X51 kit is a engine upgrade to the standard M96 engine. It includes the cast aluminum GT3 intake manifold, larger headers, different cam shafts, modified cylinder heads, the third radiator and a re-programmed DME. The factory specs for the system are +25 hp and the 0-120mph time reduced by 1.0 seconds. I have driven both X51 and non-X51 back to back and find the X51 to have a more responsive throttle, noticably more power and no loss of low end torque. I woudl estimate it closer to +40 hp, but have not dyno'd my car yet.

Yes and no. The new kit does not fit, but there was a less powerful kit for the 3.4l motor.

Would you get better value (hp/per dollar) in just upgrading the standard 3.6 engine with aftermarket fabspeed headers and exhaust, DME reprogam and a EVO intake ?

I honestly don't think you will get as much power. Look at how much Porsche does to get the extra power. Probably the same ratio though.

I notice that the cost issue has not been discussed If you want to improve the throttle response, what methods are there?? I am familiar with the Sprint Booster, but is there anything else to increase throttle response??
