Default New guy but old guy...

Just got back to the P car fold after several years...owned a '83 SC Targa for many years. Put over 150,000 miles on it, was still running strong when I sold it. Current car is 99 C2 Cab I just purchased.

Details:

Ocean Blue Metallic
Savanna interior
Factory aero kit including tail
Color matched front light surrounds
Mille Miglia 19" wheels
Sport exhaust
Eibach sport springs

59K miles, my mechanic did a full PPI, only prob he found was a leaky oil pan gasket. Looked to be in excellent shape. Body is perfect, just a few small
chips down low on the nose. Interior almost perfect (those light colored seats just show wear like crazy no matter how you take care of them...)
Paid $36K for it which I though was a pretty good deal given all the extras and the condition.

My other cars are:

2003 BMW M5 Dinan S2 with lots of mods
2005 Lexus GX 470 - kid hauler
2006 Jeep Cherokee - commuter/airport/rainy day car

Anyways, I do have a question- the computer display that is under the tach- after I had the car a few days it no longer illuminates. If I shine a flashlight on it I can see the data, works fine, but just not illuminated.

Before someone calls me an idiot I did fiddled with the dash illumination ****, it does not affect this display, only the instrument lights, etc. Any ideas?

THanks in advance

Great looking car!
I also have a 99 C-2. I bought in 2004 for $32K with 39K miles, but I had to add almost everthing(aero kit, wheels, interior upgrade, etc.)
Sounds like you might have an LED that is burned out. You have to pull the instrument pod apart to get to it.
Good Luck.

Is there a bulb or LED that lights up the display- anyone know what type or PN?
I do alot of my own work so pretty handy- any tips for removing cluster. On my old 911 the instruments were held in with rubber rings, you just pulled them out (carefully).

Nice car! I love the colour and the aero kit. I don't have a lot of love for the wheels, they look out of place on this precision machine, and belong on an escalade! I'd like to suggest 18" Carrera Lightweights.

Check out this link, he's having the same cluster problem:

there is a bulb

I dunno the part number, I had the same problem on my boxster a few years ago

Stupid independent JZ machtech in the UK told me it was non replaceable and i would need to replace the whole instrument cluster!

only after speaking to my local OPC and telling them that it was definitely chanable would they believe me

your OPC should have the details

I was told its a relatively quick and easy job

Yeah, wheels are really my cup o joe either, but wife likes them and I got the car as much for her as me.

The wheels on my M5 are more my tatse- custom made DPE forged centers.
