Default OT: Enzo crash in Malibu this AM.

Anybody have details on this? An Enzo going 200 (that's right -- 200!) mph got loose and sheared off a telephone pole on the PCH early this morning. Rear 1/3 of car separated from the rest. Driver ran off; passenger "slightly" injured.

Guess those racing "tubs" really work, huh?

I heard he was racing a slr and lost control and hit a telephone pole. The slr took off and then the dude in the enzo jumped into the passenger seat with only a cut lip and said the driver took off running, he didn't know who he was. Turns out dude was the owner of the car and was intoxicated. Sounds like a good lawyer is needed.

Wasn't me...

And what a shame. Such an amazing car finding its fate on a telephone pole. I'm glad no one got killed.

The best part was the commentary by the KTLA newsteam:
"That's a huge engine: a 16 valve V-8! It must weigh like 1500 lbs.!"

Who runs away after they crash their enzo? Unless it was stolen or borrowed by the son of the owner or something.

From what I heard nobody ran away. The guy driving the Enzo just made that part up because he was drinking. 2 guys at a party and decided to race. The SLR didn't stop and stay though. He took off.

Very true, but I suspect the $1 million dollar sunk cost might sober him up a bit.

Probably not if he was drinking. My insurance company would just laugh if I made that claim.

He better suck up that million $ and learn from his mistake

What a dumbass. Unfortunately, anyone with a Million dollar-car and the idiocy to race it drunk at 100+MPH speeds probably has wayyy too much money to the point where this won't make any dent in his wallet or make any change in his life.
