I feel sorry for the car...screw the driver (he had it comming!!) drinking and driving......stupid stupid stupid...but when you can spend a million on a car...I gues you think you own the world...better think again...because death makes no exceptions! and you can't take your money with you...you can ofcourse get burried in an enzo!!!

This was on the local news...
Party in Beverly Hills.
2 guys decide to race at 6:00am up Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu, about 30 miles, right along the coast (beautiful drive... pretty flat except where the crash occured it gets hilly... curves... 2 lanes each way with no middle divider... lots (and lots) of accidents due to cross traffic and people backing out of driveways directly onto the road with no shoulder... GREAT place to hit 120!! )
Enzo was going 120 (at first they said 200+ but corrected to say the car was capable of 220)
Passenger was owner
Passenger had blood alcohol level of .09 (.08 is legally intoxicated in CA and I think you blow .05 if you even think about beer)
Passenger said driver was a German man named Deiter who jumped out of the car and ran up the hill after the crash.
Passenger didn't want to go to the hospital and refused medical attention (also didn't want to give name)
Police said that they had determined the passenger was not the driver (maybe both seats were soiled?)
What a waste!

It's nice to see we have the technology to protect ourselves in such a crash. When will Kia adopt the carbon tub to it's models? Survival of the fittest just wouldn't be the same.............................

The police never found the "driver" after searching for him. Not to many places to run to in malibu unless you live there. I guess the guy has another Enzo parked in his garage though. How the hell does one guy have 2 enzos? one black and one red.

I heard he was racing a slr and lost control and hit a telephone pole. The slr took off and then the dude in the enzo jumped into the passenger seat with only a cut lip and said the driver took off running, he didn't know who he was. Turns out dude was the owner of the car and was intoxicated. Sounds like a good lawyer is needed.

According to The Register (a UK based computer news web site), the owner (and driver?) of the Enzo was a former exec of Gizmondo, a portable video game console manufacturer.

Interesting to see how widely this is getting coverage.

Yeah, this story keeps getting more interesting by the hour:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la...home-headlines
Potentially now we have "Dietrich" the mysterious German driver who roams the Southern California canyons, looking for expensive cars to crash, only to disappear again before the dust settles. When will he strike next? I will keep my doors locked, for sure.

It was shear luck they are still alive. If the car would have hit 12" further forward on the pole all of the carbon fiber in the world would not have saved them. I heard that there was blood on the passenger airbag that was determined to be the owners. Too bad that happened to such a nice car.
