Default 996 OEM SSK

Hey, guys - I'm looking for a reasonably priced SSK. I have heard good reports on the B&M (including that it is the same as the OEM), but I thought I'd check eBay for OEM's. Can anyone tell if this is indeed an OEM kit?

Thanks in advance!

No, the OEM kit I have is black. I'm pretty sure that's B&M. I bought mine for Brandywine Porsche from their ebay auction. I've bought quite a few things from them and have been completely happy. BTW, I did more for the OEM.

Have the OEM. Love the OEM. I have also been told that the B&M is identical. Either way, it's the best mod. If you decide to install yourself, read the instructions carefully and read some more of the threads on installation here on the forum. Lots of good pointers.

I have B&M and love my SSK... Definitely recommend

Also, as a cheaper option, there is Schnell. Which from what I've heard makes a quality SSK too

I have the B&M and it is great. I think the one on ebay is a clone as the B&M only has the threaded adjustment on one of the bushings. I saw a posting on a "clone" and the guy said he had no problem with it. Having an adjustment on both bushing won't hurt and the B&M usually goes for $200+

I bought my from Braman Porsche, when they had them on special awhile ago. Their SSK kits came with the complete housing included, and it made for an easy install. Give them a call.

Thanks guys - I figured it was too good to be true, and you know how that goes. I had SSK's in my 02 M3 and 05 Cooper S, so the long throws of the 996 are awful. I've got 12 mo. and 35k mi. on my warranty, so an OEM would be great if the price is right, otherwise I'll just take B&M.

Does anyone have a number for Braman? Where are they located?

i have the OEM porshce, i know it is a heated topic but better be safe than sorry, porsche can give you a hard time and void part of the warranty than can be related to a part like the SSK....peace of mind was worth spending an extra $125 for me....

I have the B&M kit, it cost me $225, do a Google search, and you can find them for as little as $200.

BTW the SSK and PSE are the 2 best mods!

Same here except I purchased mine from my local dealer. The Porsche SSK with the housing is really the way to go for peace of mind. Sure, it's more money but the peace of mind is worth it. I had done the full PSE install the weekend before and I can only say that with the SSK with housing install was the simplest thing thanks to the included shifter alignment tool. you don't even have to mark the cables. You just remove the cables, remove the old housing, install new housing w/alignment tool in place, and place the cables back in. The part I like best is that the shifts are so solid and crisp. of course, the shorter throws are great as well!
