I think Tq would be more in question than HP........ I would think you would gain HP at @ high RPM

***** Just read on their site that you get marginal gains...... 1-2 HP and a couple FP as well

FWIW, JimB is running a straight thru exhaust

i think any loss in torque you gain back in better handling. 50 lbs less from the rear would be much better at the track.

I haven't dynoed the car but there are three of us 996's that run together at the track and two of us have the bypass pipes and we definately pull the third guy with his stock exhaust. Now we have put in "Pep pipes" and will know if that does anything at 48 Hours. I let you know.

Carlos,
We're going to dyno the car on Wednesday at a few different levels of backpressure. It should be interesting.

Mitch,
Are you racing or doing the DE at Sebring? Either way, look me up. I'll be in the loud black 996.

I only do DE. I tried racing but it took some of the fun out of it for me and emptied my wallet at the same time!

Jim,

Please post your results! What are you using to increase backpressure?

i'd be interested in this since, i really can't justify paying the amount that fabspeed wants....not much really involved in them.....anyone know what the radius of that 90degree bend is, if so i can look into some options too.

I don't think it matters what the bend is, what is important is the inside and outside diameter. Look at the Fabspeed, it is a nice, but WAAAY overpriced, pipe.

how can the bypass pipes be street legal if they do not have mufflers on them?

Just exercise caution with the loud pedal.

so is there any truth to this i hear about the bypass pipes causing premature failure of the cats.... the only thing i can think of is the reduced back pressure causes damage to the cats, but thats just an attempt to find a cause to a supposed problem.....

what is the loudest exhaust for the 996 c2? I want something to wake up my neighbors and enough power to feel it.

STRASPEC - the bypass pipes will wake up your neighbors - by far your loudest option, but feeling any difference in hp is doubtful from any change in exhaust only.
