What I don't get is why are the Fabspeed pipes so much? I mean (and I own them) all they are is a 90 degree bent pipe with tips. Why doesn't someone else mandrel bend some stainless pipe and sell them for say $100 a set without tips (which could be mounted seperately)

That's my question. I can imagine that any good muffler shop could make them although I went to my local shop and they said they can't get that bend in stainless without kinking the pipe so maybe there is more than meets the eye but I wish someone here would chime in with a cheap alternative!

Mitch, I know what you're saying. I dont make them but.. if I had to harbor a guess I'd say the Tips (which are nice btw) are most of it? Shrug...

These are the headers that came with the x51 kit. If they are not the right one, I need to find someone to yell at. Maybe we could get a 40th owner to take a pic.

Alex,
Different headers might have some impact. Right now I'm working on a mod that varies backpressure with rpm. Now that would be an advantage.

What's the diameter of the 996 exhaust? It looks like 2 1/8". I think I might have a relatively inexpensive, but nice solution. Depends on the diameter though.

Yeah, I know about that route. I'm talking about 304 stainless mandrel bends and tips from Borla. It's about $200 if I can get the 2 1/4" to work. Get the ends swaged down or something of the like.

If I understand correctly you could lose hp at lower RPMs due to a lack of backpressure? Is that correct?

Has anyone done a before and after dyno with the these?
