Default Battery Replacement?

I finally got my battery charged up.. drove around for about 45 minutes.. then parked and turned the car off, and now it wouldn't turn over again.. argh.. (it was sitting for a month undriven) does anyone think there is any sense in bringing it to a charger place or should i just buy a new battery? and is the porsche battery anything special, or just your typical $60-$80 sears battery?

How old is your car? How often do you drive it? My last two new Porsches both had battery failures within 2 1/2 years. The solution, use a battery tender/maintainer. They really work and they are inexpensive. ($50.00 to $60.00) As far as which battery to buy, if you don't show your car in concours competition, buy any name brand battery you like. Porsche would love to sell you a replacement for about $200.00 w/tax.

Optima Red Top - $90.00 from Costco, saves about 13lbs, no need to mess around w/a vent tube, or fluid sloshing around.

From the looks of that battery picture, there's one hell of a stereo in your car, isn't there Rob?

I'm a little confused here. Is there any durability or efficiency benefit from using a vented vs. non-vented battery? Is one preferable to another?
