Default Spoiler not fully recessing

Hello: On a 2001 996C2, i noticed the spoiler was not fully recessed when it closes, sticks up ~0.5 inch on the right side, left side is fine. All operation is fine.

The dealer said that it was due to a defective spoiler drive (transmission), and it was asthetic only (although its days may be numbered). An independent told me the same thing, the labor is ~2 hours and I got a used decklid off of ebay with working spoiler motor and spoiler transmission.

However before I get it done, wanted to see if anyone had a similair issue... and how they fixed?

Thanks,

Ross

Search the trheads here and Renntech. There was a post in the last few weeks that went into great detail on this subject.
