Post car cover

I'm probably going to store my 996 in a friend's warehouse this winter. Any advice on car covers? The warehouse gets dusty, unfortunately.

Thanks,

Peter

You can go buy one from your Porsche dealer. I think they're a little under $200. It's silver.
I got mine to keep my cat's paw prints off (when it's in the garage). Works like a charm.

Peter,
If you still have your $100 certificate from Porsche, then definitely go with the Porsche cover.
I have 2 Porsche Tequipment covers:
U.S. spec cover (grey with the black Porsche logo)
PNA505996and
Euro spec cover (sort of silver with color Porsche crest and much softer lining, fits better)
000-044-000-50 (this PN is for a Turbo).
The Euro covers are much nicer than the US spec covers.
I got mine at Brandwine Porsche in PA for $250.
You can see the Euro covers if you go to the Porsche website and select a country like England and then look for Tequipment, car covers.

Can't say if it is the current price, but I got the US Tequipment cover from Phil at Suncoast for $90.

I use an aftermarket cover (Covercraft. A few friends liked the factory covers for "light" use but not if you have pets (cats) that like to climb. I have also seen semi-clear plastic covers to place over the fabric cover (for extreme dusty conditions) but have not found any vendors.

The basic factory cover is intended for indoor-outdoor use in moderate conditions, judging by the material. BTW there appears to be a new one on eBay for $75 right now.

There are certainly much higher grade covers available, napped cotton and such, especially for indoor. I think Carnewal has some of the fancy ones.

I highly recommend the Covercraft. I recently researched many brands of covers before settling on the Covercraft for my "new" '96 993. They make one that is strictly for indoor use and is very protective against dust. I called them up and they were very pleasant to deal with and were happy to send me samples of the material before I actually ordered.

Get one of those big bubble car covers - the ones which contain the car inside that big inflated transparent thinga-ma-jig.

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses. I think ill go with the covercraft duststop, as it seems best suited for indoor dust protection.

Thanks!
