Red face is this odd? Porsche in FL, (they want 2500 B4 taking it to Porsche 4 inspection!

Still deciding on this 01 Porsche with aerokit deal from FLorida, I am in Southern California.

Is this normal for a dealer to ask me for such thing? Guys, the car is in Florida & i am doing a 60k transaction. Have you guys ever done such thing and not be nervous about it. Just to have it inspected, they want me to pay 5000.00 (fully refundable according to them) before they take it to Porsche. Now after arguing with them for 5 minutes, they reduced it to 2500.00

Help me out..

make sure the $2500 goes into an attorney's escrow account for safekeeping with instructions for using a portion of it to pay for the inspection. this safeguard would make this an acceptable condition to me and reassure the seller of your seriousness. let us know what happens

i dunno if this is good or bad to you, but i've seen this car on ebay about 3 times in the last 4 months, since nov. maybe it is the same owner which never got the amount they wanted or someone bought it and wants to get rid of it, but i am sure its the same one...i was offering for the exhaust only back then and that's how i remember.

I think that car is from exoticmotorcars in florida.....that is the most absurd thing ever to have to give a deposit to inspect the car - walk away from this deal actually run - something is fishy here

I think one of you gentlemen in Florida should help Yellowbmr and suggest a reliable attorney that could assist him with this transaction. Most dealers do not put deposits in escrow. He's rolling the dice without legal help.

before you commit, i suggest you contact someone I know named daniel 415-939-8988

He deals these types of cars everyday and probably can even get you a better deal here in California.

What I don't understand (among other things) is why the outfit you're dealing with wants so much for inspection. If I were selling the car I would welcome an independent inspection. If I didn't sell it to you, then I'd have the inspection report for the next potential buyer.

I think something is fishy.

I would wait and find a car in CA that you could check out yourself. This dealer should already have a inspection done on the car before they sell it. That was what was done on my car before I bought it. Here is a link just something to start with,

http://www.autotrader.com/findacar/vdetail.jtmpl?car_id=118607320&dealer_id=&search_type=used&make=POR&mode l=&transmission=&distance=300&address=92103&advanced=y&certified=n&max_m i leage=&max_price=80000&min_price=40000&end_year=2002&start_year=1999&dri ve=&engine=&body_style=&advcd_on=y&doors=&fuel=&color=YELLOW&car_year=20 01

Don't pay for that. They should take it to inspection without money (and PPI should run about $150 or so).

Where is it in Florida?

I'm in Miami Beach & if it's close, I might be able to go and take a test drive with it & inspect it a little bit, plus take some quality digital photos.
