Angry Left Rear Corner Body Dent

OK OK! So I just got back from my vacation from Italy and get into my honey. She sounds good, smells nice, and feel great. Take it for a spin and come back(BOY I MISS THIS CAR AFTER LANCIA WAGON I RENTED). So, the Mrs wants dinner and off we go. Lovely and a great dinner to boot.

Get home and I run into the Post which divides the parking space with my left rear making too sharp of a turn.

So, since I have come down a bit and dont want to kill myself. The damage is the following. The car has a dent rather a large one between the passenger side door and the rear left wheel. It doesnt seem to bad but DO I NEED TO REPLACE IT COULD I JUST HAVE IT BEND BACK OUT AND PAINTED.

Thanks and Jet legged!

First see if you can have a paintless dent removal place fix it. If they can't repair, make sure you take a picture to show the next owner when you go to sell it so they know it wasn't anything serious that is being hidden by the non-original paint.

Welcome home Bloke. Sorry to hear your baby got brusied. Like above post have a dentless removal guy take a look and see if it's entirely possible to pull out and as long as there's no paint lost from the little accident it mite be able to do it but how large is the dent? Another thing too though if it's around the wheel rear flare they mite have to drill a hole from the inside to kneel it out which the dent guy told me when I had a ding done on my door(not needed on door though-great job they did). Also be nice that you take apic of it so potential buyer knows it was a small thing. Regards and good luck!!! Mike

Ben and 996,

Thanks for your help and yes the dent is pretty large but no paint scrap since the guys at the garage has a padding on the corner where i cut to tight. I would think they might have to drill to pull out the dent and I be sure to take some photo of the incident. So I can tell the next owner. What a idiot I was!

Geez you would think after driving in southern Italy withour getting a ding. I would be able to handle the my car at home.

Well off she goes to the body shop. Dang I guess new set of Titleist blades are out.

996,

Nice to be home after two weeks! Nice country and great place to sightsee but as usual some hassle to be expected since they think all tourist are there to be taken advantage.

But, they do drive well in Italy. People signal, move over from the left lane(no land hog), and etc. Next time, I have to do a european deliverly so I can see what the car can do without worrying about going to the JAIL.

Again, take it to the paintless dent removal guys FIRST! These guys are magicians. I had them remove a LARGE dent from one of our cars a few years ago. It took about an hour and was completely gone - for about $75!

All you have to lose is a couple hours and $100 vs. several hundreds dollars (if not a couple thousand in diminished value plus paint and labor at a body shop) and a probably the same amount of time to deliver and pick up the car from the body shop - not to mention $$ for a rental car if necessary since it'll be in the shop a few days.

Ben,

I looked at the dent again and it is pretty big. Almost a size of half a watermelon. But, the paint wasnt damaged or scratched at all. Since there was a padding on the column. But like you said it doesnt cost much and I am sure better then the local bodyshop(great work but way too expensive).

Also, I checked and I cant seem to find a shop in NJ. So, if you have a source which I can call or a website which you know of then please pass it along to me.

Thanks

Bloke: Since you're in N.J., go to the Dent Wizard, 350 Grand Avenue, Leonia. (201) 461-7766. My '02 cab was hit by a deer in Dec. on the right front fender and the passenger door. Paint was not compromised and he was able to remove dents for $400.

Speed,

Thanks a bunch! I finally found it on the yahoo Yellow pages. But, since you seem to be happy with the work then I will give them a call.

Thanks again for the info.
