Post Wheel Dilemma

I have BBS LM (18") on my 996. Beautiful wheels on the car. But,just had the second episode of damage, this time curb rash ( actually happened to my wife when she was driving the car) which can easily be fixed. As the rim edge of these wheels really seems to stick out even with the tire edge, very susceptible to damage. Considering a change back to an OEM wheel for the street and use my BBS for the track. Any suggestions ?
TIA

The OEM wheels are just as susceptible to curb rash, esp. the rears (I've scratched both sides). Problem is really the tire sidewall design, not the wheels. I use Hoosiers for the track and their sidewalls have a band that protrudes and protects my track wheels. Don't know why the street tires are designed without a similar protection band but most are not.

Some of the street tires do in fact have protection (ie: the new Sport Contact 2). BTW, the new 02 Carerras are BBS and only weigh 20.5 ft/22.7 rear!
