Default Silver badge fading?

Those of you with silver hood badges, have you ever had a problem with the badge fading? One of the guys at Brandywine recommended against the silver badge for this reason.

What is fading on the badge? Can you please post pics?

BTW....the sun out here in Vegas is brutal and I haven't noticed anything.

Yep........I have them on 3 dif cars and 2 are loosing it........pretty hard to get a decent pic but I'll try over the weekend.
If I recall correctly......it was like some of the areas that should be bright silver, now had a muddy-tarnished film over them.

My old gold crest that I replaced the silver one with suffered the same fate. Not so sure it is just a silver crest problem.

ah, for about $85-89 bucks, it's still worth it IMO.

And we happen to have 2 in stock! hahaha

The earlier Silver crests had some peeling problems. I brought it to Ralph Boothe's attention when I purchased a used crest. You might want to ask him about it he might have some ideas on how to protect the badge. I installed a brand new crest it was on for 9 months and never had a problem.

Should last longer than a year though ($80-90 silvers twice as much as OE gold?) .......so where does Pelican, Performance Products & others source these?
If I recall correctly, the silvers were actually OE golds that someone re-works and sells.

Not sure why RB hasn't sponsored this site??? We sure do send a bunch of business his way. He is a great guy to deal with. Nothing but great things to say.

I've got his silver hood badges and his silver emblem embedded center caps and they look like new. Hood crest on my silver cab is 3 yrs old (Perf Prod), and Cindy's hood silver crest is over a year old.. and center caps from Ralph a year ago. Car is garaged tho, if that makes a difference.. If anyone has seen his center caps you'll know how good the construction is. Just my .02
