Default Problem with lights: Always On.

I seem to be having a problem with my lights. Even when the switch is all the way to the left (off position), my lights are on (not daytime running lights, but like full out headlights, lights at the back and the orange indicators). Does anyone know what the problem might be?

I'm pretty useless with electrical stuff, the only thing i can see is that one of my orange corner lights is not working.

i've got it...the problem is with the aftermarket alarm i installed...probably where the wire was spliced in...or the programming on the unit itself. gonna have it checked out 2morro mornin.

Canadian Porsches must conform to the DRL law, parking, street, tail lamps and low voltage on with the high beams. But if you have HID the HIDs are on all the time, result of the DRL design.

understood. but my problem is that the lights (not DRLs) that you would use at night for instance...are on all the time.

i gave G-Tek a call and they said it is prolly a relay that is stuck.
compustar suggested checking that the parking like output on the compustar isn't wired into the headlight relay.

will try these 2morro or monday.

My guess is one of your rear lights bulbs has an internal short or bad earth connection. I had this truouble and it turned uut to be a faulty rear nearside bulb....but the bulb still worked! Yup it still worked fine but the internal earth wasn't connecting and it allowed power to flow through the bulb filament and ths leaving all the lights turned on. Pull out the rear bulbs and see if the problem goes away.

Remove the fuse panel cover. Reach up and grab the wire bundle, and pull... really hard! Keep pulling until the lights go out. Problem solved!

BTW, you can thank Richard Landis for this idea, because he inspored me! I just asked myself the following question. I said "Self ...what would Richard do?" That's when this "low-tech" idea hit me!
