1999 996 Blues
No, not having problems with a '99 996.
My question is how many variations of blue were offered in the 1999 996? I know that later years have a Lapis Blue, but was wondering if that color was available in 1999 and if any other shades of blue were available that year from the factory?
I'd like to pick up a hardtop for my 2002, but want to make sure that a hardtop described as "dark navy blue" is going to be a reasonable color match (different sun-fading effects notwithstanding) for my car.
Thanks for your help,
David

Thanks,

Lapis Blue metallic has a distinctively purplish shade to it. If the hard top, as you described it, is "dark navy blue" then chances are it is Ocean Blue metallic. Ocean Blue metallic was discontinued after the 2000 model year and replaced with Lapis Blue.
Here is a picture of my Ocean Blue metallic cab as reference:

Boy, that Ocean Blue looks nice.
Unforunately, it's not my color description -- it's the seller's. Would the hardtop be marked in any way with a paint color code somewhere?

The next best thing is to get the paint code off the seller's cabriolet since the hardtop is matched to his cab. The paint code should be underneath the hood in the options sticker.

Unfortuantely, this appears to be a wholesaler or liquidator of some sort. Or maybe being sold on consignment. In any case, the seller doesn't have precise information available. Sounds a bit risky to me.
