OK, bias alert: I have the same car in basalt black.
For road use the 2WD manual Carrera had got to be the driver's pick.
OK, it's not got the edgy focus of the GT3, but that car hasn't got the everyday ride quality that would make you pick it for those long road trips (unless going to the track of course!)
And it's not got the outright acceleration and speed of the TT. But AWD adds weight, and reduces steering quality (albeit oly a little, but real), and AWD doesn't provide the same chassis interaction of 2WD.
There's only one downside - it's got the M96, instead of the bulletproof Mezger engine.
The last analogue 911 (maybe the 997.1 qualifies better?).
If having a throttle cable rand dual row IMS rocks your boat, go for the 996.1, personally, I'll take the extra power and torque, and VarioCam Plus of the 996.2 (and upgrade the IMS) - headlights don't matter either way.

Can you tell me where you got your Aero Kit? Your car looks amazing, I just started looking into Aero Kits and I'm surprised by the inexpensive pricing, and I'm a little frightened for that pricing they mustn't be of any quality. Thanks alot for any help you can give me and again I love your car.

I love your 911! Can you tell me where you got your Aero Kit? I just started looking into doing this with my 996 and have no idea where to look, I'm surprised by the low cost of the kits I found. Thank you.
