911Syncro - how do you like driving the Tiptronic versus a manual? I've heard it's sluggish...I've also heard it's just as fun. Thoughts?
I thought it might be best to add some more details about Tiptronic notes here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...e-driving.html rather than on this thread. And am hoping others will add their knowledge and experiences there as well.
But to add context for my views,
1. I came from a '93 968 with Tiptronic and very much liked it. That car is a 4 speed Tip and manual shifting is via the stick (no steering wheel buttons).
2. Since this is my first month of owning the 996 I sure am longing for a stick to really explore the limits of this wonderful car. That exploration has been more difficult with the Tip. I really want to get a feel for the 4WD, and experience the PSM, but haven't yet accomplished that.
3. No regrets at all on buying the Tip. All my Porsches have been daily drivers and around town, in freeway traffic, etc. the Tip is great and the stick would have no enduring advantage for me.
Roland, that thread was great. It seems that with practice/time you come more in tune with the system, and I can see how daily driving and city driving make a tiptronic valuable.
I think this thread should be stickied on the main 996 forum. I know of several 996 enthusiasts that love looking at the pictures of all the cars. Its a big incentive to get onto the forum.
(posted in other threads - but adding my favs into this fantastic master thread - so fun to scroll through)

I'm never going to wake up to shoot an empty beach. Here's something on the way home from lunch...just a base black on black cab. That last pic epitomizes having a 15 year old car, adding it to the list haha. Hmm in hindsight I should have removed that trash. And yes, pumpkin replacements are en route.
BTW, Long Beach Grand Prix on Sunday. If you want a unique photo op, you can probably take pics on the course Monday early morning (it's a street circuit).
