Default Prestige Porsche - PPI - BEWARE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well...after looking for months and months and months, I finally find the perfect 911 for me!!!

After the owner and I agree on the price, I asked him to take the car to Prestige Porsche in Nanuet, NY for a PPI.

Now the owner tells me, that Prestige Porsche "drills into his head" that he is "giving this museum quality car away at the agreed to price."
So the current owner is now backing away from our agreement.

BEWARE OF PRESTIGE PORSCHE

THEY RUINED THIS DEAL - in my oninion!!!

Keep working on the owner. Let owner know that the car is going to a Porche fanatic who will take very good care of the car. Try to appeal to owner's car side and hopefully he will not think with his bank account. Are you getting the car for a steal or is the price reasonable given the current market. If the latter is true then you can present the owner with the current market price of the car and reassure him that he isn't getting ripped off. Nonetheless, Prestige did you no favors to put it mildly. Looks like they've lost your business for good.

I thought $27K for a three owner 1988 with 36,000 miles was market.
Prestige told him this museum piece was worth $35-$40K.

I have been looking for months for a black/black 87-89 911 in great shape for sale by private individual.

Ask them if they are willing to buy it at that price. Market price is only real for real transactions

They gave him a very unrealistic price, your offer was more than fair, he'll never sell it for 40k.
Wait a month, then offer him 26,500.

I can't even tell you the nightmares I've had with Prestige Porsche. I bought my first Porsche from them, what a bunch of *** clowns they are. From sales to service it's a complete joke.

I tell people to run from them, especially the service department.

For any service needs in this area send it to Pepe Porsche in White Plains, I take my car there and it's another 20 miles for me.

Sorry dude,
Rob

Did you guys exchange any onsideration, i.e., cash or anything of value that held or bound the offer and his subsequent acceptance. If so...I can tell you how to make his life miserable...

...but if not, can you get back with the owner and sit down and tell him that you thought the deal was made and that you'd like to go thru with it now? If he says 'sorry Charlie'...walk away from it and keep looking. You'll find the right car...

A 88-89' 911 Porsche for anywhere near 40K is a joke unless the miles are super low and the car is perfect, and I mean perfect. This owner will never sell his 911 at that price unless someone is dumb enough to pay for it.

I would not go higher than what you have offered. Cars with this few miles also suffer for it so keep something in reserve for the low milage leaks that will spring up. These cars were designed to be driven not parked.

Unless the guy had the car for sale for only a week or two, he's in a far better position to know what the market value of his car is than the dealer. In other words if he's been trying to sell his car for a few months and he's only been offered $27K, that is what the car is worth. It's the market and not the dealer that determines a car's selling price.

In late July 2004 I test drove a low mileage blue '02 996 at Len Stoler Porsche in MD. The car was in good condition and although it didn't have many options that I wanted like PSM and heated seats, I nevertheless made an offer. The dealer ws asking $59.9K and I offered $55K. The sales guy told me that the car was originally listed for $61K and that they would never sell it for $55K.

After getting my 993 serviced on Friday, I went over to check out the Porsche GT they have on their showroom floor. I noticed that they have still have the blue '02 996 on their lot and the asking price is still $59.9K. So the dealer doesn't always know what a car will sell for.

I have been looking for months for a black/black 87-89 911 in great shape for sale by private individual.
I just got the August edition of Excellence magazine in the mail.

According to them, the following prices apply:
Low Condition $17,452
Good Condition $20,477
Excellent Condition $27,413

They usually allow an extra 10% for low mileage.

Good luck with your hunt.

If you've been looking for a long time, it might be worth offering a little more. However, if you've given him a deposit based on the price, I think he is legally obliged to sell it for the agreed to price.

Again,
Good Luck
