Unhappy After all this - I still don't fit????

Man...I can't tell you how disappointed I am. After all this work, Sparcos...seat rails, brackets, bolts...yada,yada, yada. Nothing. No gain.
I put my helmet on and BONK! DAMN IT!! You little guys out there have it good, IMO.

Sooo...the car goes up for sale on Monday.
Do not get me wrong. I LOVE this car. But, the primary reason I bought was to take it to the track. And...I don't fit with a helmet.

So it's time to find another car out there I can fit in. THIS SUCKS!!

Notice to all I will have the following available for sale:

Tequipment bar - Brand spankin new, never installed. $840 plus shipping (what I paid)

Full set of '02 Carrera 5-spokes (no tires) great condition - $1000 plus shipping

2 - Sparco Roadster seats - BRAND NEW! (Black with silver backs) includes rails, brackets, etc. $1300 plus shipping

If you are interested in anything email me: austin_design@charter.net

I think I will go back to a 944 Turbo S or....????

Wow, thats no good. I am sure you have heard this, but ihave GT3 seats and BK brakets and they giveme a fair bit of room over stock. I drove them on the track today. I am 6'3", and no problem.

Chads, you should really try out the BK brackets, they were especialy developed with tall drivers in mind, a fellow from PPBB, robert augora hills (i believe) helped develop them.

not sure if they are compatible with seats other than OEM GT3.

sorry dude but i ditto what moogle said. try them out first or call bk and maybe they'll develop/fabricate something just for you.

-or-

try some recaro srd seats, the ones that recline. seems the problem is that the bucket race seat cause you to be more upright where you need to be more laid back. they are sweet seats and laterally but not as supportive as buckets. they have a hold in the middle for the sub belt as well. this may be your best bet.

-or-

just use the stock seats

good luck matey!

use gt3 seats or pole position and forget the rails, fix them to the floor. you will gain 2-3" from what you got now.

Chad, don't throw in the towel now, either fix them directly to the floor or go back to the stock seats, they're pretty damn good at the track.

That's the problem guys. The stock seats are too tall. No room for the noggin. I got a set of the Sparco Roadster Shells. They look great and drop the seat, but no where near what I wanted / needed.

I am very in tune with the seat situation. A friend of mine and local PCA'r is a Recaro dist. All seats will reclinability need to be modified in order to fit in the 996. Meaning...the inside adjustment **** is removed and the hub shaved off. Because of the mechanism, (I had these in my old M3), I am a little leary of this.

Chad...take a deep breath and think about this. I tihnk most would agree to just give it one more shot with some of the input others has echoed--GT3 seats to the floor, new brackets, etc..

Hate to see all your hard work go to waste.
