Key remote not working AGAIN!

Okay, so about 2 weeks ago I replaced the battery and the remote started working again. This morning I went to unlock the car and the remote didn't work. The red LED flashed just like normal but didn't unlock to the doors. I had to manually unlock the door.
I guess it "could" be the battery... maybe I got an older one BUT I think something else is going on here.
What could be causing this?

BTW, the remote is less than 1 year old. I had to buy a new one and bought it from the dealer. The dealer coded it and everything.

Please keep us posted, I get this from time to time with the CGT and the original remotes. Even when I point the sucker right at the windshield it won't lock/unlock at times.. .

It did it again this morning. I unlocked the car manually then pressed the remote and it locks. WTF??
The car sat for less than 10hrs. and it's going into that mode where it disables the remote.

If you replaced the battery and it worked, I would go to Radio Shack and buy some contact cleaner... open the key and clean all the metal that touches the battery, replace the battery and try again.

Try checking previous threads on this subject several months ago. I had the same problem, particularly where there may have been interference from o'head wires or transmission towers. Porsche gave me a new aerial and reprogrammed the remote to a new frequency (under warranty). Never had a problem since.

I had the same problem months ago. I had to get both key's remotes replaced and reprogrammed. Insurance covered it, but I had to pay the $100 deductible (otherwise it was around $250).
I tried cleaning inside, changing batteries, you name it. Porsche remotes are the worst on the planet.

This is common in the 986 and 996. Many times the 'pill' inside the remote is bad, and you will have to replace the heads. Before you go that route, take the head apart, use a magnifying glass and look for a damaged solder joint. Sometimes it can be fixed and you are in business again.
