Default A Couple Fabspeed Header and Exhaust Questions...

I am considering doing a few mods and had a couple questions:

1) Are the headers the same for the 3.4L and 3.6L motor? In other words, will 3.6L headers fit on a 3.4L?

2) If I upgrade to Fabspeed headers, does it make sense to upgrade mufflers from my current PSE set-up? I know that there are weight savings, but any additional performance?

Thanks!

Yes the headers will fit. IMO there is no real gain in power from the mufflers, so you probably would be wasting money on new mufflers.

supposedly the real gain is changing to 200 cell cats. i was told there is a marginal gain from 100 cats (and they also throw a CEL) so the 200s are a better bet. in any case, i'm changing out the mufflers too, just don't know which ones yet.

cargraphic has a nice looking set. FVD has them but from the pics on their site they don't look as "quality" .

If you want the most gain, and cost less than half of the price of the headers,
go with the Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes. If you can live with a car that sounds like a cup car, nothing even comes close, not to mention losinng about 60#s of dead weight off the rear

I am thinking about Fabspeed muffler bypass pipes for my 2004 GT3. How loud are they? I have had Fabspeed exhaust and I liked them alot on my 2000 C2. I have heard the sound bites on their website but you cant really tell how loud they are. My GT3 is not a daily driver and I don't give a crap about my neighbors.

Then you should definetely go for it. I bought mine off ebay and I am not going back to mufflers anytime soon. It's pretty loud at idle, definetely gets some attention at the stop light. It gets crazy loud when you hammer it. No ricers would even consider racing you. Like their website says, if you don't hammer it, it's liveable. I found out the sound flattens out between 3000 to 4000 rpms. I think it's the best bang for your buck if want your car to sound like a cup car. I have a 3.4 though, so I would think a 3.8 would be slightly louder.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Is it overbearing inside the car while you are driving?

No, surprisingly, it's not too bad. Reason being it that the sound is going out the back as you are going forward. It's a little bit more difficult to hear cell phone conversations, but it's not like you have to scream into your cell phone. On the note of performance though, you definetely feel a torque difference.

whoa, you'll have to check them out for yourself. i've heard they are deafening so it would be good if you did a search on rennlist too.

one thing, if a ricer wouldn't want to race you then you can get a picture of how loud it will be
