Hi Guys, new to the Forum and a new 996 owner(1999 996 c4 23000 miles). The info and mod ideas found here are great. But my question is, can anyone recommend a third party Extended Warranty company that is Porsche friendly.
Btw I called AAA and they won't touch it.

I posted here about a week or two ago wondering if PCNA sold an extended warranty to cover its products, but did not get any help. I have a "credit" coming to me to settle another issue, and it's basically down to asking for an extended warranty or a comp 1 day Porsche Driving Experience, since I've already done the two "factory" mods I was interested in (PSE and X74). I would not be buying the warranty from a third party, but am still interested in knowing if PCNA had one and what value the company placed on it.

Alboogie996,
I’m surprised AAA won’t touch it as I got quoted around $3,700 for 48months/75K with a $200 deductible for a 2001 996 with 7K miles. I’ve been doing a lot of research, have been going through contract fine print and have concluded it’s very difficult to get a clear answer about whether something like RMS will be covered or not. AAA, for example, will not cover a gasket/seal leak unless it’s a total failure. I also found that AAA is not the issuer of the warranty but just acts as a sales channel for Warrantech who, I found, have various consumer complaints listed against them with consumer affairs. It is very tough to get good feedback of how well some of these extended warranty (service contract) companies are. In the end of the day I have decided to put $4K in an index fund and will wait to see what happens. I figure it should cover 4 or 5 RMS replacements by which point I can decide to keep the car or not. ~ Poe

I struggled with this when I bought mine but went with 1source. Only time will tell if they prove to be any good but they were recommeded by some others on this list and seemed to have a good reputation. I'm about to make a claim for a tire failure so I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks Poe, I called AAA because I am a member and the rep said that they would not issue a policy for Porsches. A friend suggest I contact PCNA and ask if they could recommend a third party warranty co. which I did, the PCNA rep told me to contact my local Porsche dealer, So I am going to call Valley Motors tomorrow. I agree you must read the fine print of any warranty contract because alot of these company are very shady. Btw your investment idea is pretty good!

Warrantydirect.com will not cover 1999s. EasyCare, owned by Ford will. And they cover all seal leaks (but statistically 1999s most likely will not encur RMS anyway). I know this sounds crazy, but drive that gorgeous Porsche to your local Ford dealer.

have a look at www.1sourceautowarranty.com
Their diamond package covers seals as well and they accept Porsche up to 100,000 miles

This is in 1source's fine print...
SEALS AND GASKETS: Seals and gaskets are covered only in conjunction with the repair of above listed covered components. Seepage of seals and gaskets is NOT covered.
I guess they probably won't help with RMS...

You may be correct Turbofan.. I'm having a hard time with the language. Looks like Diamond covers all parts due to Failure, which is also defined as premature wear for that mileage, and the language I quoted pertains to Emerald and Ruby.
I'd actually like to get their policy. I'll look around the site for explicit statements about gaskets. thanks.

I read the diamond policy a few days ago and today. They CHANGED it. It now says:
13. SEALS AND GASKETS: Seals and gaskets are covered only in conjunction with the repair of above listed covered components. Seepage of seals and gaskets is NOT covered.
A few days ago it said that the seepage of seals and gaskets are covered only through the diamond package. Now it doesn't cover it. I can't believe it.

What a coincidence. I just got off the phone with the dealership regarding extended warranty, and got on the board to do a search regarding options.
The dealership offered me a Porsche warrantee that goes up to 6 years from initial purchase up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Same as the original warrantee, except extended an additional 2 years and an additional 50,000 miles. The car has to go to the dealership service, where they fix/repair/replace everything that needs it under the original warrantee. The car then gets a Porsche certification, then I pay approximately $1,800.00 for the certification and warrantee extension.
What do y'all think?
