Re: Extended Warranty
$1,800.00 just to add 2 years seems a lot

The dealership offered me a Porsche warrantee that goes up to 6 years from initial purchase up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Same as the original warrantee, except extended an additional 2 years and an additional 50,000 miles. The car has to go to the dealership service, where they fix/repair/replace everything that needs it under the original warrantee. The car then gets a Porsche certification, then I pay approximately $1,800.00 for the certification and warrantee extension

I leased the car from the dealer, now I'm buying it for the residual value. So, essentailly, I'm buying a used car, dealer certified with extended warrantee.. It just so happens the first "owner" was also me.

I guess that explains it. I'm talking to warrantydirect and 1source still. 1source says they cover gaskets leaking, but not seeping. I'm waiting for the fine print on that one. Warranty Direct seems to cover gaskets. Jury's still out for me.

Hi everyone, i too am new to the forum and to Porsche. I just purchased my first one, a 1999 C2 Coupe with 39,000 miles, 6spd. I also debated about the ext warranty and if it would cover the only thing that was of true concern for me which is the RMS. I purchased a 3yr/30k mile ext warranty through a company called The Selection, the Extreme coverage package for $1990.00 (i thought it was a good price), and the brochure specifically states in two locations the all seals and gaskets are covered in the extreme package ext warranty.
In regards to the comment by Ford, why are the 1999's statistically not affected by the RMS? I hope that is true, makes me feel more at ease about my purchase.
Incidentally my mechanic, probably one of the last true honest ones i swear, told me today that if i wanted to ever do the RMS replacement, it would cost a total b/w $500-600.00 Not bad i think compared to local Porsche dealer of $950.00

I think I found a fairly honest salesperson, he told me he was giving it to me at cost. who knows? But i still am anxious to know why statistically the 99 year has none or less RMS issues.
Thanx,
Peter

I got an email from 1source today. They say the way the contract reads, Diamond coverage includes seepage of seals and gaskets. They sent me the whole document. Now it's just basic price and coverage comparison.

Yes, today 1source send me an email that diamond coverage includes seals and gaskets. I checked the policy again and it's true. They changed it twice in one week. Obviously they can't leave without the Porsche business.
