I actually paid $39,000, but that's irrelevant... do you honestly think i'll be buying another porsche after what i've been through and the way they have treated me? not if my life depended on it.. it's fun to drive the car, I cannot disagree, but I will not be investing another cent into the purchase of another p-car again until they shape up their act... in more ways than one.. i'm not a porsche loyalist, simply a car enthusiast... and i've never had such bad customer service and experiences with a vehicle in my life, after owning most every marque out there... but i'll keep the car for two more years until all my warranties are expired, then it's outta here... prolly get a nice used sl55 come then... test drove one of those beauties and love them.... but still a little too pricey right now for a toy... we'll see how they are priced in a couple years...

i like my three other cars, and it's wintertime anyways in seattle... a convertible porsche isn't actually even too much fun to drive right now anyways in this part of the world.. we'll see how things are come summer...

Bob

I wouldn't be so sure that you will be covered under warranty for the next 2 years. If Porsche customer service is as poor as you believe, all it will take to deny warranty service on your 996 is for Porsche to claim owner abuse. Then it will be up to you to hire a lawyer and litigate the issue.

they indicated a 2 year warranty with the newest engine, and that is what they must stick to. I don't abuse any of my cars, track them, or anything... simple daily normal driving.. an internal engine failuire such as a rod coming out of it's block (what happened before) and a cylinder coming out of it's sleeving on the other engine (what happened before) cannot be engine abuse... pure and simple, porsche faulty engineering... all my previous engines are simply internal engine probs that could not have been caused by owner abuse... i also have an extended 3rd party warranty as well as a backup... we'll see what the newest check engine light means when i bring it into the shop.. fourth engine maybe?

not to mention i've never heard of porsche denying a warranty claim for an engine replacement from anyone under a certified porsche warranty under normal driving conditions.. has this ever happened to anyone?

vove, would you like to pay for the $15,000 in modifications i originally added to the car when I first bought it which have absolutely no trade-in value? so if i do that again, another $15,000... which basically, makes another $30,000 lost... doesn't seem too logical imho, since i'm now in a situation where i won't be paying for any further repairs again...
15000$ in mods?? what did you do to that thing?? with a quote like that I feel that you are pulling everyone's leg now. So go ahead, tell me your so call mods. or better yet, post your car so I can see the mods for myself.

vove,

wheels & tires, twin turbo body kit with full repaint and installation, interior upgrades, wing, exhaust, tax, shipping, etc.. it all adds up pretty quickly with porsche as we all know...

apparently the check engine light was the mass air sensor going bad... nothing big.. just another part to be replaced, thanks to my extended warranty

Man this post is getting funnier and funnier. Palting- next post you'll have is you'll be morbidly fascinated about chewing off his arm knowing the fact all you need is to open the door. Bob-I think everone knows here that netime you put money into car-your not going to get it back. What's worse car will further depreciate. So what happens after 2 years? Buy another engine when it blows and get another 2 year warranty? It's gotta stop at some point-right : )?. Regards. Mike

i don't expect to get my money back from my modifications, that's why i'm gonna try and enjoy the car for 2 years, to get some value out of the damn porsche from hell.. then i'll sell it.. right now, after all i've spent, and $15k in mods having to sell the car with only 1,000 miles on it? no thank you, that'll just **** me off... i'll try my best to enjoy it and hope that one day.. it'll stop breaking down... i can't logically see how a car can fail over and over and over again... but then again.. oj was found not guilty...

after 2 years, it's sold.... until then, not another cent of mine is going in the car.. mass air sensor just failed as well.. extended warranty company will be picking up the tab.. another day, another problem... have to just laugh at it all.. can't do anything else.. as long as i don't have to pick up the tab, you won't see me complaining...

i figure it'll last me 2 to 3k miles a year for 2 nice summers in seattle, with my 2 year engine, tranny, etc.. porsche warranty and my 2 year extended 3rd party warranty with it's $0 deductible.. then it's outta here.. where, i don't know, just out of my sight.. then i'll pick up a '03 sl55 when the price gets more reasonable in '07

Bob,
How much have you spent on the car?
How much did you spend on mods?
Just wondering...I know you've posted it before, I just can't seem to find it....

$33,000 out of pocket for repairs (the majority of this cost is from the two engine transplants)
$15,000 in modifications
$3,000 for the best 2 year $0 deductible extended warranty i could find
$9,000 from the insurance company of the dealer for the tranny..
(and now another $650 for the mas air flow sensor to be replaced)
total = $60,000+

total miles driven since purchased at 49k miles with a perfect mechanical inspection done: 1,120

So you spent $60,000+ in repairs and upgrades for an auction car you picked up for $39,000? That's $100 grand for a car you hope to drive for about 2,000 miles a year?

Alright Bob! Enough with the complaints! Take the bus from now on. And only a fool would pay $650 for a MAF when you can get the OEM for less than $300.

OK. As far as I can tell, hes gone through skin, into the fat beneath the skin, and just getting into the muscle. I think he actually likes the taste of his own arm. He's actually chewing and ruminating on the taste of his own flesh, prgering to enjoy the taste rather than getting out of his predicament.
