I always drive with my lights on -- does anyone know if I can just add DRLs?
I have just been turning on the parking lights/ front fog lights.
Many newer cars can just be programed depending on the market they are sold in. Some just need a relay. Others for some reason make it too much trouble.
Anyone know?
Also with xenon lights -- how do they do the DRLs ?.

There is a 5W halogen bulb (specially made for european DRL) within the headlamp assembly that serves as the DRL. Canada requires DRL headlamps and street/parking lights. I simply jumpered the seat heat power source to the street/parking light circuit. The 5W bulb works with the street/parking lights.

The early DRLs turned on the low headlights w/o the parking lights -- most now that I see use the high beam at 1/2 intensity. Some turn the parking lights on -- some do not??
What is the law in Canada regarding them? Do they turn on the rear parking?
So if I understand -- Porsche just uses the small light in the headlight (The white parking light) as the DRL?
If that is the case I will just continue to turn the parking/ front fog on.
I really do not know why this is not universal by now -- it is so cheap to add. I can tell you that my silver tt is invisible at times driving this time of year in the northeast US.

My 99 C2 was of canadian origin and the low beams, HID, and the front and rear street parking lights came on as DRLs. I was told at the time that was as Canada required.
When I picked up my 01 at the factory I was told the DRLs would be enabled prior to shipment to the US. At the US POE I was told that since DRL was not required by US so they would not add the extra cost to turn them on.
I wired the bottom connection of fuse number A6, seating heat voltage source, to the bottom side of fuses A3 and A4, right and left "side" lights respectively. You can buy the small links to clip onto the fuses at Radio Shack.
