Default wiper blades

hi all...

i recently reallised that the speeds of the wiper blades of the front windscreen of our 996 C2 are only 3....

at my 964 they were 4!!!! the 4rth one was extremelly quick so that you could drive with 120+ mph in the rain (depending on the condition of the tarmac)

in our 996 there is no 4rth scale...and of course it is impossible, (even if the tarmac is perfect ) to drive over 100 mph and normal rain....

any suggestions?

i believe there are only 3 modes in the 9x6 generation

i believe its:

---push the stalk up slightly and you get one single swipe

---pull stalk down one notch and you get intermittent mode, determinned by the little **** opposite the cigertte lighter

---push stalk up once for normal

---stalk up twice for fastest mode.

Harris,

don't forget that 996 wipers are much better designed and much more efficient than 964 ones.

Best regards

I swear by RAIN-X. It is a surfactant that works especially well at high speeds or heavy rain - no wipers required. It is applied on clean dry glass and lasts more than a month. With less use of my wipers, the glass clarity is preserved. RAIN-X makes the water bead up and roll off. Related products are used on aircraft glass. RAIN-X glass does however need wipers at low speeds and mist. Visibility in a torrent or speeds above 75mph (120km/h) is fabulous.

I agree. I use RAIN-X at the track on wet days, and I don't need to use the wipers at high speeds.

emillios,
i understand what u say, that 996 efficiency is better than 964...but i found the 964's fourth scale more efficient than thw 996's 3rd at 120 mph....

Yes, but you will need a really long electrical extension cord to do it!

I also use rain-x. I have more of a problem with the 996 wipers themselves. I think they are too light and tend to skip.

Apply rainx to a dry windshield and let it dry on. Also, use Bosch Micro Edge Excel blades. They work better than any blade I've ever used before, hands down.

i have used rain-x in the past

i found very annoying the fact that the rain drops "draw" straight lines on my wind screen when they try to escape....

I've noticed the same problem. They definitely tend to skip. And, one problem with Rain-X is that when wipers are used, they seem to smear the glass a little bit. It clears, but I can't stand that shadow smear while I am driving, instead being left to just keeping the wipers off and letting Rain-X do its thing.

I will look into this thread's post recommendation to try Bosch's wipers. The stock wipers are not so great. Of course, it might be worth trying this Rejex surfectant also. I had not heard of the product before....
