My son-in-law refers to my 996 as “Sally”! I will from this point forward refer to him as “the brain surgeon” and I don’t think he’s very f’ing funny.

Tell him Sally was a 996.2 and also not a convertible.

But Sally would be much more fun if she could run around topless!

I am proud that a 996 was selected for the film. She made our cars famous. In fact, I have a Sally plush toy in the rear cargo area for everyone to admire. Go Sally!

PEC Atlanta 996 let down
She was a novelty to see at the PEC Atlanta last week but disappointing that Sally was the *only* 996/997 in the building. Nice display of the air cooled era and a very sexy 918 Spyder build #001 (not street legal in the US) but after that mostly racecars and a bunch of GT3's it seemed.. P.S. If you haven't been to you local PEC it is worth it just for the ride-along laps... Holy ^%#

Is Sally painted a Porsche color? If so, is it Zenith blue?

I saw the real Sally at the Petersen in Los Angeles, maybe 1-2 years ago, and I recall the plaque next to the car mentioning that the entire roofline was customized (raised) to make the car look more cartoon-ish. You can see it in the post above (#7)

It is a custom Porsche color called “Sally Blue Metallic”. It’s only been used on the original Sally and the late model Sally Special (one of one) tribute car you can check out here or here.

I love all the Easter eggs like the tramp stamp decal and dig the interior!

The 1998 Sally Carrera 911 had a raised roof, a reduced wheel base, and the car was modified with precision, including being finished in a special paint called Sallybluemetallic. Elements, including the headlights, bumper, wings, and doors, were all rebuilt as well. Porsche was really proud of it and kept it in their museum until recently. It’s at the Peterson museum now with the Lightning McQueen car.
