Buying new tire for 996 and only drive car in the summer should I get ultra all-seasons or max summer performance tires. Looking for better traction and handling, wet traction is important too. Thanks
Ive tried many different tires over the years and Michelin is simply the best and the PS4 are amazing. They make an all season PS4 too if you do want more wet grip too.
Go with a full summer tire. Michelin PS4S in my experience have excellent wet weather performance. You might look into N-spec Michelins as well. I can't speak to other brands as I have been a happy Michelin user for quite some time.
I’d also recommend going with summer tires if you’re only driving during summer. The only benefit to all-seasons in this situation is that they’ll wear down slower, but it won’t matter much if you’re not adding tons of miles.
I also recommend the Michelin PS4S, but will also acknowledge the Continental ECS 02 is a good choice too.
Summer tires. The above recommendations are all good as are the Vredestein Sprint+, if you have 17" wheels. The Sprint+ are probably not as good at the extremes as the Pirellis or Michelins, but that may not matter. I have them on the 993, 986S and soon to be on the 996.
For A/S, Conti DWS are hard to beat.

My opinion, if you live where there is snow as I do, unless I have an extra set of rims I always get ultra high all season. Just in case. Unless you're tracking the car or drive to the extreme ultra-high all seasons are extremely impressive and give little in the way of daily spirited driving while having the ability to safely drive in a surprise snow. My two cents.
Comes down to if you just want a summer tire or if you want an all season tire to drive in the colder months. It doesnt have to be in the snow, it can be during the cold weather months in the dry or rain.Summer tires get harder and slippery below 40 degrees.
Either way, you can't go wrong with either the Michelin 4S or Contintal EWC for the summer. Nor can you go wrong with the Michelin AS4 or Continental DWS for all season.
FWIW, it's easy to get a second set of wheels for a good price and run two different sets of tires. As an example, I currently run the Michelin AS4s on one set and Bridgestone RE71RS on another. Provides more flexibility depending in conditions and purpose.
