Default Driver side window button stuck

Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue with the driver-side window on my 996 4S. The window is stuck in the down position. The motor seems to be working because I hear a click when I press the "down" button. However, when I try to raise the window, the "up" button feels jammed and won't press down properly, almost like something is wedged inside and preventing it from functioning.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Do you need more detail?

Swap out the passenger side to see if it is the switch.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what that means

To be more clear, the switch is physically stuck, and I can't push it down, so even if the motor wasn't working, I wouldn't able to tell right now

If you are not sure if it is the switch or not, use the switch from the passenger side window and switch the wires. If the window works, you need a new switch.

If it is not the regulator, and simply a stuck switch, do you have a recommendation for the easiest way to fix it? I know - this is not a lot of detail - I can send a video

OP - You need to remove the center console to get to the switch and pop it out. Plenty of video and tutorials on how to do that task. Once you get to the switches, the rocker switch operation and how they plug in becomes clear.

Actually, the window switches are a part of the ash tray which pops out. There's two little plastic screws that fasten it to the center console. No need to remove the entire console to replace window switches.

OP, your problem is more than likely a broken switch. Replace and test.

OP,

I had a similar problem. I found the problem to be a tiny bit of plastic broken off from the switch body and lodged under the rocker part of the switch and preventing it from moving.

Using a fine pick, I wiggled out the piece and the switch started working fine. This was two years ago, and still works.

Doh! That’s what I get working from memory.
