Default SP996 Track Weapon

Just a friendly little reminder of how potent of a track weapon a ~270rwhp 3.4L 996 can be…

Well a 2.10 seams near impossible for me to imagine in my gt3ish at wg so those sp996 drivers r a little nuts . Hopefully i will be solidly in the 2.12s during my next trip.

Very good momentum car and the driver is being very nice to the engine.. I see many drivers being much harder on the engine never coming below 5K rpm the whole time ...

Maybe one day I'll splurge for hoosiers. My best theoretical was a 2:10 flat. New tires for this weekend so we'll see. My student is in a brand new GT3

Also like I'm within 2-6 secs of those times on 200TW

Sorry, that vid/lap, has very little to do with the car imo.
Not saying the car isn't good, just that not many, if any,, drivers can handle any car like that

That racer is a 'shoe in' for sure

Hoosiers definitely make a difference. I’m also a big believer in coaching at any level. The 19yo kid in the video is my current one. We spent an entire day last month just focusing on the shape of my brake pressure trace while trailbraking. It was an absolute blast. But I’m still 1.5s slower than him. Too much seat time in the dyno room instead of on track this year.

I was told when I first started that if I was worried about damaging the car, I would never be fast. So I try to stick to tracks that look like they are in the middle of a pasture. 😎

Aiden's a solid, upper level, amateur PCA club racer. When I think of 'shoe in' I think of something a little more along these lines....

You are also the one that helped me finally make Baz understand what "track day driver" means in the US when we were doing the sump testing. His exact words were "over here that refers to someone turning up in a road car and enjoying some time driving around a race track. That car and driver performance is more like our guys use on a race day"

That 59.2 is a pretty juicy target for Brad @ LRP

Proves you don't need a lot of power to go fast.....when I was racing I was always told you have to go slow to go fast.........and it's true. Jump in a slower car/bike and learn to drive/ride then work your way up.....

I agree 100% with learning to go slow to go fast. But my point is that these cars are probably the biggest sleeper of a track car you will find. Zooming in specifically on Eagles Canyon....

SPC is the Spec Caymans (Coomes is running a Slakker build this year)
GTB1 includes the 987.2S PDK's and
GTC4 includes the 997.1 Cup Cars

and all 3 have slower track records than the SP996.
