Default 996 Targa Leak from Rear ?!?!

Hi all! First post here (please be kind). Just bought my first Porsche 911 996 Targa and after the very first drive came home and found a rather large leak that was coming from the rear underside almost in the center (maybe slight closer to the left).

I attached the video that shows where it’s leaking from almost looks like a hose. The liquid doesn’t seem to be bright color like a coolant and doesn’t seem to have much of a smell either.

was hoping someone could help me figure out what is causing the leak or what the leak is.

thank you all 🙌🏼🙏🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼

Does your coolant tank show a reduction in level?

That leak is coming from your water pump. Could be a failing gasket. However, it's alway good to see if the coolant is dripping down from the coolant expansion tank. These tanks are well known to get hair line cracks that leak under pressure. As the car is cooling down, you'll notice coolants dripping down on the exhaust usually.

just went out this morning, last night, it looked like it was leaking steadily from the maximum down to the minimum line. This morning it has held steady with very minimal drips over the course of an hour.

looks like the drips are coming at the clamp of what seems to be the reservoir tank line.

I’m not great with the mechanics of these cars so this is my best description.

hope it’s helpful.

when examining the tank this morning, I did not notice any wet spots or leaking areas on the reservoir tank itself.

Welcome to the Targa club, my tank had a very small crack in it when I got it. The coolant level was below the 996.xxx.xxx...I refilled and went back below the 996.xxx part # on the tank. Like you the next day I see a leak coming from the rear....But mine was the tank that finally broke

The crack on my bank was on the backside and couldnt be seen ...

I believe your leak is from the hose that is green in the photo below?

Great post thank you for the all the info!

yes the green arrow is where I am getting the drips(the clamp area just to the right of your green arrow) what is the name of that hose?

i was thinking to refill the tank and drive it. Not sure if that is a good idea or not. I don’t want to cause further damage.

I got my Targa towed the shop when this happened, with such a critical system I didnt want to take the change driving it. Its fixed now and back to normal

Thats also the spot where the coolant lands if the small fitting next to the alternator cracks its the like 10mm host on the right side of the alternator.
