Default A poor man's garage :)

Hah, well, my baby has been stored for the last 5 years since I've had her in a carport in the Pacific Northwest. Not ideal but it is what it is and she was kept bundled up but now I have a nice, dry, rodent free storage. My brothers company is moving to Florida and left this behind for free. 10'x25' shipping container. FREE! All I had to do was get it transported to my house about 30 miles away. Permanent ramps are next but I got her put away for the time being. Not bad for about $800. I'll put cedar siding on the street side and back so the neighbors don't have to look at a container and I have a perfectly dry storage and additional space for other goodies. A roof and inside insulation when time allows is next. I squared it up by using a come-along to pull it tight to shop after the photo.

That is awesome! I’ve seen some pretty cool garage builds with containers.

I'd just bury it with a couple of loads of top soil and then you would have "The Bat Cave".

Unfortunately the roofs are very weak on shipping containers. The corner posts carry all of the load when stacked. Even walking around on top of one makes it obvious how thin the metal is.

It's an ugly shipping container but I'll make it look good by spring. Now I can get it under Haggerty insurance for 'real value'......

Seriously. I can't even put a carport on my driveway without getting a letter. A whole shipping container as an extra garage space is a pipe dream for me!

2-3" of 2lb medium density spray foam will go a long way in that, will eliminate condensation dripping off the roof and help seal holes. Won't eat into interior space like conventional and wont wick moisture up from the floor.
