Transmission Mount Tool Rental
I'm looking for someone who will rent me their transimission mount removal/installation tool for a manual 996. I have messaged a few members who were renting them in the past but have not gotten any responses.

If you can find them, long ratcheting 13mm wrenches will be helpful. My normal length gearwrench ratcheting wrench broke installing the new mount…. Even after leaving the mount in the freezer for a few days, and lubing the transmission….

For anyone else that is looking to rent this tool, I highly recommend @binaryaudax . He shipped the tool quickly and the cost was very reasonable.

Just got done renting the mount replacement tool from Binaryaudax and it was a piece of cake to use. I tried to make my own and no way would it work as well as the correct tool. For $50 that it cost me in the end, it saved me ton of frustration. binaryaudax is super quick at getting the tool out to you and then crediting you back the $50 deposit. Highly recommend him!

I have a few questions regarding transmission mount replacement:
1. Am I correct in assuming I don't need to worry about shifter/cable alignment when changing the mount
2. Is there any preferred brand that is an exact match for OEM? Pelican shows 4 options (I'm assuming these are all for manual transmission -- Pelican does not ask about transmission type when you enter your car info (996.1 / Coupe / C2), nor do the Pelican part descriptions clarify manual or Tiptronic ) :
Uro: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Lemforder: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Hamburg Technic: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
Porsche Branded: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
3. Do I also need the Mount Stop: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_In...=c&SVSVSI=0667
4. Any other parts needed than mounts & stop?

1. Yes, you don’t need to touch the shifter cables, so the alignment will remain unchanged.
2. Of your list, I would prefer to use either Lemforder or the Porsche branded one.
3. You probably don’t need a mount stop. Mine were fine when I changed my mount.
Have you considered a polyurethane transmission mount insert by Function First? I used their mildest insert, the orange one, and liked its effect during shifting. There is a very noticeable increase in NVH, so it may be unacceptable to you.
If you get a mount insert, you won’t need to use those mount stops.
4. I’d probably purchase a fuel filter and change it out at the same time. The filter is accessible after the transmission’s been lowered, and you won’t have to drain any coolant if you squeeze some of the coolant hoses aside.

Thanks, great info. I’m looking just to have OEM mounts (no NVH increase). It shifts very well, but my son has had difficulty downshifting under hard braking in autocross, so I think the transmission mount is worn (already did the motor mounts, also with OEM).
I’ll definitely look into replacing the fuel filter at the same time.
