Question Color change - PTS Ruby Star or Speed Yellow?

Top of the morning Gents!

So I have a first world problem that I want to share with you to get your opinions. I have 2 996's one a .1 and second a .2, both with Aerokit Cup's (OEM). The problem is that they are both BLACK. The 996.2 looks amazing in black (just finished a 2 stage polish
), so I would not want to touch it. The 996.1, that's the question.

- Paint it speed yellow or ruby star? Speed yellow looks amazing, however one could always argue that I could have just bought a yellow car, with ruby star, it would be unique. It's already a travesty that I am painting the car, I don't want a wrap as they don't last long and as a keeper, painting costs in central europe are not that bad. What do you think?

If I had to choose between Speed Yellow or Ruby Star …..I’d definitely keep it Black.

Sure. Nothing more classic than black. Get a stripe, paint your calipers a bright color, get a set if harnesses that match your calipers. Spend the money on something that will make the car more durable or faster.

But sure, if you don't like black and want to paint it, go for it. Nothing wrong with it either. But I am not a bright color guy as a Gen Xer. Hell, mine is seal gray. I agonized over whether i wanted black or blue racing harnesses and my wife told me to live on the edge and go with blue. At a moment of weakness I agreed.

Go with your gut.

OP - I would say a 996.1 aerokit car in Rubystone or Ruby Star would be a fitting tribute to the 964 RS. I saw a 918 in Rubystone and I was clocked.

Thanks! Yeah I know what you mean. I normally prefer dark colors, but I had a speed yellow 997.1s that I recently traded for a x50, no sunroof tt. So the yellow is missing. What I am wondering is future resale value. Which do you think would be better in that regard?

Original paint is always worth more.

If you are going to keep it forever, then it really doesn't matter. Go with what you really want. That's the cool thing about the 996, it's still priced at a level that you can customize it to your specs.

Seems here in the states, original paint yellow is the hot ticket for now. 20 years ago very few wanted yellow or any other "unicorn" color. Which is why they are "unicorns". Today it's different. In 20 years it may be different again. Black seems to be a universal classic regardless of any era.

Black dress, black tux, black car. Cool.

If resale values are part of decision I would think a Speed Yellow buyer would just keep looking for an original factory painted one, but Ruby Star would not be found as a factory 996 so really no competition. Also might want to get shop to use code for Rubystone an earlier factory color to add some history to your effort.
Rich.
