Side Curtain Airbags
Hi all,
I'm thinking about getting either a 996 or 997 and had a safety-related question. Did 996s come with "side-curtain" airbags on both sides of the vehicle?
I've done some preliminary research on this topic. Unfortunately, I've encountered some conflicting information, so I'm turning to the forums here.

In Eorope MY 1998 some 996 didn't get them, from MY1999 onwards they all got them.
GT3 Mk1 with M003 clubsport didn't get them either.
Easy to tell from pictures of the door cover if a 9x6 has them by the 'pad' just above the arrest.

Just to clarify the point - the side airbags in the 996 are cushion-type not curtain airbags.
They inflate out from the door panel to protect the occupant’s thorax and head, but they aren’t “curtain” airbags, which first made their appearance in the 997.
