1999 Boxster No Crank
Hello Everyone,
I bought a 1999 boxster that was running no problem. Then it rained and the car wouldn’t start. Saw online about the dreaded immobilized so I took a look at that. There was a lot of water under the driver seat. It got to the immobilizer and corroded it quite a bit. Removed the board last night cleaned off the corrosion and replaced the fuse. Car started right up.
This morning started it up a couple times no problem. then one time it didn’t start, saw the fuse on the immobilizer blew. When replacing, the slot where the fuse goes into came off the board. Got it soldered back put in the new fuse. Still nothing. Board has been since cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a brush but still no start. Also locking system, convertible, rear defroster all not working. All fuses are good also.
Does it all lead to sending out the immobilizer for repair even though it was working fine this morning for a couple starts?
I’m also getting code 39-04 on my snap on scanner.
PS: the rain happened about a week ago.

Is the car still possibly wet under the seat? If any of the connections are wet, they may need to be cleaned. Are your drains clear, or did it rain with the top down? Since other components aren’t working, I suspect the ignition switch or battery or battery cables might need to be looked at.
Start with the basics and test what you can.

Any way of testing the ignition switch? The battery is testing good and the terminals/cables look good aswell.
I did notice that pin 16 on connector 1 to the immobilizer isn’t getting any power. Is that related to the ignition switch?
