Anyone else have a valve lift and variocam solenoid issue?
First engine scare I’ve ever had in my C4S cab….came to a stop sign, and the engine started rough idling and then just turned off! I turned the car back on and the check engine light has now turned on, and the car is REALLY rough idling….I rev it and engage first gear to start moving. Next stop sign the same thing happens!! Had to keep reviving the engine to prevent it from rough idling and dying at every stop light.
Took it to my mechanic (SST Auto in Danbury, CT) - fault code was saying bad valve lift timing. They replace the valve lift solenoid. But rough idling was STILL present. Then a NEW fault code - bad camshaft timing - they then replaced the variocam solenoid….car has been back with me for 2 weeks now and everything is running great.
FINGERS CROSSED we are through the woods here!!

Yes. Twice, Do you have the 3.6 engine? The 5-chain 3.4 is a more complex and difficult job to replace the solenoids. Glad Porsche made revisions to this engine to allow easier servicing. My solenoid repair bill was 6-8 hours for just labor alone.
