Default While I'm here anything I should check and replace?

I bust the oil filler tube which is 23 years old :-/ so I'm in here fixing that, while I have this apart is there anything I should check and/or replace? I already checked the serpentine belt and all tensioners and pulleys, water pump is smooth and zero play (only has 16k miles on it).

My car runs fine but occasionally throws an evaporation emission CEL leak code, I reset it and it normally stays off for a few months. If its old hose which one(s) should I check or which valves?

Thanks a bunch

You might check any coolant hoses that you can access now. I think there is one or more that go to the expansion tank that break if you look at them the wrong way.

The valve in your 2nd picture is charcoal filter purge valve. Easy enough to do even whilst you're not in there.
Referral to hose(s) to expansion tank is to the white plastic couplers to be exact. Metal after market alternative is available.

It depends on how deep you want to go and your mileage... if you're pulling the intake runners out, I would check over everything possible that is on top of the motor/behind the intake...
  • AOS
  • Oil cooler
  • Vacuum lines (the hard lines get brittle and snap easily)
  • Fuel injectors
  • Intake manifold gaskets
  • Starter cable

The list of things you could do is long, but one cheap thing you could do is replace the coupler that sits directly next to the oil filler tube. It's made of plastic and will eventually break. There is a metal one you can buy that pretty much eliminates that issue,

I have the URO brand one in my car.

Thanks Idaho911. That's a great idea. Pelican has two options for the metal replacement. Kind of makes you wonder why they needed this connecter, rather than run one hose.

FWIW, if you need to replace your oil filler tube, and are considering doing your AOS, you might as well get the UAOS track version which comes with the oil filler tube, not to mention the ability to run more oil, or to put it another way, the advantage of not loosing any sleep if you accidentally over fill the oil. Just a "while you are in there" thought.
