Default "Side Marker" Light question

My side marker lights weren't working. When I tried to remove one of them, it snapped in half. On a 2000 MY car, I figured, if one broke, I'd replace both. Ordered from Pelican. Install no problem, but now I have to ask - do the side marker lights blink as a turn indicator? I've only had the car for a bit over a year and never checked. So I don't know. Most cars have a main blinker and a side blinker. Does a MY 2000 have both (fried egg) main integrated headlights with turn signals (which work on my car) and side marker lights that should operate (and be visible to other cars) on the "side marker" lights?

Or do they never blink?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Side markers do NOT blink with turn signals. That being said, do a search for doing a hack to make the side markers blink with the turn signals.

Fairly typical of many auto manufacturers in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s.

Concur. When I removed the side marker to replace the bulb, it snapped in half.

A little sarcasm: When these cars were new, you just HAD to replae the yellow markers with white ones. YOU HAD TO DO THIS to be cool. So, there has to be lotsa yellow ones living lonely lives in boxes in peoples' garages. Yup.

On a whim I bought these on line,, they were not expensive but I had broken the right one and at the time I wanted LED anyway...
ONe thing they do is when they power up they light from front to rear , they only do it once , if I did the turn signal mod they would definitely stand out.

A little tip a friend gave me on removing these...don’t pull out on the rear portion (with the clip), rather slide the whole light assembly back (towards rear of the car), which compresses the little metal clip enough for the front tabs to disengage, then pull out front portion of assembly first. This saves those fragile little tabs on the front of the assembly.

So when do the side markers flash normally? When hazards are on?

They don't flash, they are just illuminated whenever the headlights are on.

A fun fact regarding the mod. When the headlights are off, the side markers blink in sync with the turn signals but when the headlines are on, they alternate blinking with the turn signals.
