What I see is $10K for 10 more HP plus active suspension. About the same price per HP as the power kit currently, with the "better" suspension thrown in.

Depends on which rumors you have heard. There is some news that the "regular" 997 will have the current 320 hp power plant, and the S will have 355 hp. Either way, just Porsche's way to siphon more money from you.
Originally posted by DJ 996 Hopefully the S will also package a lot of nice options like the current C4S that will make it worthwhile.
I would hope that the "Leather" interior or "Full Leather" Interior would be standard. C'mon Porsche we are spending $70K+ on these cars, the least you can do is give us leather like on a $30K Honda/Acura. At least the C4S had it, but they really should make this standard on all Carreras.
The "S" will come standars with the Chrono package, PASM (adjustable suspension), 19" wheels instead of 18, aluminum look instrument package, and some other doohickeys. Oh, and 30 (thirty) more horses.
Give the Porsche web site a try it's quite entertaining.
Based on the info on the PCNA site, specs and talked about MSRP, I'm glad I didn't wait and just bought the 40th for such a good price. The new 997's won't be discounted and equipped the way a 40th comes as standard, the 997 will probably cost 12 - 15K more than what I just paid. My other observation is the rear end is a little too rounded, almost like the Audi TT and Lexus SC400. Just my opinion.
The carrera S with the 3.8 is proably conservatively rated @ 355 HP... X51 will also add another 40 HP (it is after all a bigger motor)... 395 HP... not bad!!
