Is that $39k all in? Meaning drop your car off at the required certified installer then drive away with the new motor installed and warrantied?

not sure about all of it but I'm pretty sure no warranty is given unless LN has stepped up and offered one since they are the new owners / seller of the motors..

FSI has always offered a 1yr for the buyer, my guess is these are the same. That is $39k just for the motor, you have to get a certified installer, which I expect would be $4-6k additional. Plus the coolant tank and other “while you are in there” add ons are going to add probably another $1-2k

He definitely says a warranty should never be an issue because his engines don’t fail. TBH I have never heard of one failing and I searched pretty hard before committing to the build.

there was one particular car that scored and had to be rebuilt. Even Jake came out and said that the owner did not drove the car properly high revs before warming up. He even rode with the owner a few times. Anyway yes, this business is like Morgan Stanley, where they clearly only go for the ultra rich. But at one point Morgan Stanley recognized that there where not that many ultra rich customers so they purchased etrade and another investment company eaton vance (I believe that’s the name). The difference here is not sure FSI will last as long as Morgan Stanley. Even Tesla now is discounting their cars in China and their owners are pissed.

Haven't seen anything in the website except the standard 3.4 and 3.6 builds. If you have a link, please attach one. Seems that we will have plenty of option when everything is said and done.

As a second hand owner of a FSI build with access to the original contract, as well as talking personally with Jake, there was a stipulated 1yr warranty for the original buyer, subject to certain use limitations. It wasn't transferrable, didn't matter to me.

Curious - what happens if you have a reputable shop that you work with in your area but they are not a certified installer. What are the repercussions of going that route?

Default Spending your money...

Yeah, I dont know why anyone would spend more than 5k on a car. My 2005 scion xb always starts when I put the key in and gets me to.the dollar store and back every time. It even has FM on the CD player.
lol.
It's amazing people on a PORSCHE forum can express disbelieve that someone could spend x$ on anything. Hell there are exhaust systems that cost more than I I payed for my first 3 cars.

Anyway, whatever one thinks about Jake, he has set up an enviable business (he probably has one of the coolest man caves anywhere) And his research about the M9x engines is unmatched. If you havent listened to his performance engine recording, you should. It answers an astounding number of commonly asked questions...like why did my engine explode on the sweeper at Sebring?

Stocker (and Stage I, I believe) builds this year came with a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty.
My Stage II comes with a 90day unlimited mileage warranty.

My 996.2 should be arriving via enclosed transport later this week.
That reminds me, I need to go charge my GoPros.
I'd like to video the first drive, but knowing me I'll say, "forget that, I'm driving it now!"
Likely I'll video the second drive. Ha!
