Yogi I have sub’d and will be watching your progress. We will have nearly the same engines when done.
Well here’s a sneak peek then. @lnengineering Jake may hit you up to rent me a ring filer because I’ve spent all my money on all the the parts you’re making me buy. AOS hoses are NOT cheap. MAF, caps and filler tubes. 💸 This engine is going to be literally new.

What's up everyone?? New video time! Things are going smoothly and am honored to have Jake Raby take a special interest in this project. He has provided invaluable advice above and beyond what I got from his AWESOME video series. If you're on the fence, hopefully this video series convinces you of how manageable this can be with the right instructions. Enjoy!!

Oh isn’t that pretty? Wonder what the difference between the JE and Mahle pistons are (weight, design, coatings)? Last I heard was the JE are out till December or something crazy so I would be getting Mahle.
BTW is still do not have my block as the coating vendor is taking longer than expected. I am now at 14 weeks.

Making progress! Putting the front console on before you install the crankcase half is GENIUS! Also setting your thermostat to 72 degrees also slows the clock on the RTV curing. No 911 video this week but I am rescuing a 2015 Chevy Sonic LTZ after a couple of Gen-Z'ers took over my garage and made me fix it. Hope you'll watch it and get a good chuckle watching the next generation work on an internal combustion engine.

OMFG it really is dude! Thank you again for the hook up! Because of the savings I was able to buy the "IMS Solution" from FSI. Otherwise I would have had to go back, hat in hand, to The Bank of Yogi-Mama for more money and that would have been bad.

where was this originally purchased (brand or store) as I need one but cannot make bead or tails if the eBay versions actually fit water cooled cases.

Happy Halloween!! I got rid of the Gen-Z kids who took over my garage last week and am back on the engine assembly. Again, thanks to the Jake video series things have been going very well. The existing IMS is another story. The EPS bearing doesn't used a snap ring so I have to source one and the center stud isn't standard. It's almost like they intentionally made it difficult for us to remove it. Next week will be the bank 2 pistons so good times! Enjoy.

REMOVED VIDEO. It contains TMI. I'll re-drop once I sterilize it more. I need to be more careful on presenting this information w/o giving away the secrets that make this series so valuable. Apologies.

Curious, have you considered the larger Porsche bearing, especially since you have the engine apart? Seems like that is a more robust solution.

Well I've already purchased the IMS Solution from FSI; however I was not aware of a larger bearing alternative. Do you have more information?

It's more of a curiosity thing. I've already spent the money on the solution. Just working on getting out the EPS garbage.

Thanks for the link to vwalley. I have reached out to him.
In the video I see that you coated the case permittee bolts with blue Loctite. Is this to refresh the factory encapsulation? I was considering doing this as I didn’t see any other reason to replace perfectly serviceable blots/screws.

Well, TBH, the bolts SHOULD have come micro-encapsulated but they were not. I'd check with your supplier to make sure they send you the right ones. However, IF they (FCP) would have sent me the right ones they would have been overpriced. Considering thread locker is the same stuff more or less, DIY is your friend here.
