Help - car not running right after installing starter
I had to remove the starter in the car and then put it back in, but now the car isn't quite right.
When revving, there seems to be a 'cough' (best I can describe it) and then it revs. So a slight delay and then revs. Mywife says the car feels like it is down on power, or that itis towing something. The only things that I had to remove to get at the starter is the airbox, throttle body and plenum. I made sure the throttle body was plugged back in and the maf. I also made sure the vacuum lines that plug in to either side of the plenum are connected. There is nothing else I would have tinkered with to get the starter out.
Im guessing the rubber boot for the plenum is not fully on. Its difficult to get right and even though u r 100% sure its i correctly, check again. It helps to use an inspection mirror.
U could also have cracked the oil fill tube. Sometimes just looking at them wrong causes a split.
Agree with comments above, sounds like a vacuum leak and the plenum sleeves are the most likely culprit. Super critical to get them seated and keep them seated as you tighten the screw clamps. Will make a big difference in how the engine runs if those sleeves are not just right.
