This looks like a good solution. Are you using the 1 1/2" size in your photo and does expand enough to plug it? I ask because the similar ones I see on Amazon (e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Hillman-Group...1573755&sr=8-4) look like they only expand to 1 5/8" (I think some of the plugs are closer to 1.75"). Mine would be going on a stock 996.1 airbox, not the 3.8.

Why doesn't anyone go the extra step and remove the resonator box in the filter box assembly? Wouldn't that give more volume in the filter box and improve flow?

Did it-like it
Found the right size plug, stuck it in there and the engine sounds, to my ear, better. Could be that I can hear it better, so I’m getting more communication, but it also feels stronger at the low end of the power curve. Butt dyno says 3-5 hp😜

This poll convinced me to give this mod a try, and I have to say that I love it and won't ever switch it back. It is totally benign and silent in normal driving and the only time it comes into play is when you meaningfully put your foot into it, which is exactly what I wanted. When your foot is in it, it sounds amazing without being too loud -- I wouldn't want it any louder or quieter.

Agree, without doing any exhaust mod it’s pretty damn cool

Cool set up, whats the exhaust side??
yeah i have same airbox with cap. I do have the ipd plenum but I got a 3.4 cable throttle car, yes throttle body had been bored. Now I have headers, fabspeed exhaust, x pipes no cats. What exhaust set up you have.

I just tried it, drove it to and above 4K and decided to put it back. I already have Fister exhaust (gondo hack) so I didn't hear anything that noticeable. (I have a 99 3.4 bored to 3.6 w a 997 3.6 airbox.) IPD plenum awaiting install.
